Lionbridge Expands Its Relationship With Nikon as Premier Localization Provider for European Products
WALTHAM, Mass., - Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: LIOX), announced that it has expanded its relationship with Nikon, the leading Japanese company specializing in optics and imaging. With the expansion, Lionbridge has been named the premier provider of translation and localization services for Nikon Europe.
To ensure quality and efficiency for Nikon, Lionbridge and its translation partners are using Logoport(TM), Lionbridge's web-architected translation memory platform. This advanced technology provides program managers, translators and quality assurance specialists to access Nikon's language assets anytime, anywhere in the world in a secure, web- hosted environment.
By leveraging Logoport and using Lionbridge as the main supplier of translation services, Nikon has centralized its linguistic assets while enabling in- country resources to manage translation and review. This combination is enabling Nikon to reduce its costs by a third, accelerate time to market and improve consistency in the language quality.

Nikon Europe BV is responsible for importing, sales and servicing of cameras. The Company originally selected Lionbridge four years ago to handle the translation of mechanic manuals and marketing, ensuring their European customers immediate full access to Nikon products in their own language. In a business restructuring process, Nikon Europe moved from a country based model, where each national sales office in Europe individually handled documentation translation, to a regional model, where the European head office coordinates translations for the whole European region.
