The LISA QA Model 3.1 is designed to help you manage the quality assurance process¡ªincluding functionality, documentation and language issues¡ªfor all components of a localization product. The quality metrics and procedures in the QA Model 3.1 are the results of a collaboration between LISA members, localization services providers, software and hardware developers, and end-users. Their "best practices and recommendations," along with a basic statistics model, have been compiled to help you streamline your company's product localization quality assurance process.

Innovative New Interface

The LISA QA Model 3.1 features an innovative new interface that combines single-click efficiency with spreadsheet functionality to simplify the review process. Reviewers using dedicated workstations with touch-screens will appreciate it support for this environment.

Feature List

  • Multiple localization quality metrics. This QA Model supports both the default LISA metric and the SAE J2450 metric.
  • Single-click ease-of-use. For any given review task, all error categories and severity levels are immediately available with a single click (see the screenshot). The computed metric (Total field) and the PASS/FAIL status are updated with each error button click. The reviewer can thus stop reviewing as soon as the FAIL indicator lights up. The resizable interface maximizes the size of buttons to facilitate touch-screen input.
  • Lightning-fast data entry. Data can also be entered per page or when the review is complete. The array of error buttons behaves like a spreadsheet, but is easier to use: you simply position the mouse over any button and type the number. No need to click the mouse button, no need to press ENTER. Arrow keys can also be used as in a spreadsheet.
  • Centralized control. A single interface (shown above) provides access to all functions: data recording, reporting, adding new projects, clients, etc.
  • An extensive list of GILT error categories. The interface incorporates 39 error categories from the LISA QA Model and seven from SAE J2450, with appropriate error weights for each metric.
  • Example data to help users in their implementation. Each error category is explained with examples in the product documentation.
  • Comprehensive reporting tools to measure/compare vendor performance. The database tracks projects on a per-translator/vendor basis and features a complete set of reporting tools to allow users to compare and track vendor performance.
  • Metrics for evaluation of source documents. Appropriate metrics can be used to evaluate source documents prior to localization in order to identify problems early on.
  • Objective measures of error severity. Because the QA Model allows for precise counting of errors, it allows users to tie business decisions confidently to actual quality.
  • A built-in list of all languages defined in ISO 639. The built-in list allows users to accurately and unambiguously specify project language.
